How did you come up with the name of your business?
I feel like stars and angels follow me around so I use them a lot! I had a DJ business for 11 years called C.A. Star. ... Since that business was really no longer, I wanted to start fresh but keep the star effect. My daughter actually thought of the name and I fell in love with it right away.
What do you offer?
I provide a way for the business and entertainment communities to reach higher goals by helping them promote themselves or take them to the next level. ... I also set up grand openings and special events.
What prompted you to start the business?
I have a background in entertainment. I studied theater at Penn State and continued studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. I managed several companies for my dad’s corporation and that gave me my sales and marketing experience. Later in life, I ran a networking group for two years in the South Jersey area. I also ran several groups in the direct-sales market. I found a niche with Tupperware and have been with them for 14 years. I decided to put all of that experience into my own company.
Who are some of your recent clients?
I have three chiropractors, a male belly dancer, a Hawaiian country singer, a variety-act singer, a few tribute artists, a young hip-hop dancer and many more. The hip-hop dancer won a dancing part with the Cirque Dreams cast in his first ever audition that I took him to. There is nothing truer than the saying, “Timing is everything.”
How do you make the connections?
I have a great gut feeling about people and I try to match them with what they need. I make phone calls, but I prefer to meet people in person. I had a lot of connections when I started and I must have tripled that in this first year alone.
Any upcoming events?
I’m doing a showcase with some of my clients on Sunday, March 21, from 5-8pm, at a location to be announced. In the spring I am setting up a wellness expo and launching my new non-profit organization for brain cancer research. And in April we will be doing another Wings tribute show at Rifici’s.
Are you offering specials to new people who sign up?
My initial consultation is free. ... I want to be a company that is different, and I already am. My clients have the potential to meet someone through me who can literally change their lives.
