There is so much going on over the next week in Atlantic City. Between fundraisers, food events and yes, even a rodeo dance competition (the actual rodeo events at Boardwalk Hall take place April 1-3), you can’t say it’s a slow season here at the Jersey shore.
Let’s start off with the fundraisers.
Music, Magic, & Max Weinberg will be taking place this weekend, raising money to transform the recreation room at Seashore Gardens into a music space. This change will allow for new programs, including drum circles that will look to help stimulate and enrich the lives of Seashore Gardens residents with Alzheimer’s.
Weinberg, the man The New York Times called “the rhythmic backbone of [Bruce Springsteen’s] E-Street Band,” will perform on Saturday, March 26, at the Stockton College PAC in Pomona with a 6:30pm Meet & Greet and an 8pm concert. For VIP tickets call Sharon at 748-4614.
The Donald L. Perry Foundation Art Show Supporting Cancer Research will be held Sunday, March 27, at Cuba Libre — also located inside the Quarter at Tropicana — where you can see the eclectic art of local artist Peach Lee on display.
The collection includes works of 3D, acrylic, multi-media, as well as jewelry. The show runs from 4-7pm on the second floor of the restaurant and tickets are $10. For more visit dlpfoundation.org.
Next Tuesday, March 29, from 6-10pm, the young leaders of The Alcove invite you and your friends to join them for a fun night out bowling. The Alcove’s “Beer & Bowling” fundraiser will surely be a fun time and for a great cause — to help raise money for grieving children and families. The per person price of $20 includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, and select food and drink. There will also be $6 beer pitchers available. Payment accepted at the door or you can mail it to the Alcove office on Tilton Road in Northfield. Visit thealcove.org.
Also on March 29, from 6:30-9:30pm, there will be a benefit at The Continental (on the third level of The Pier Shops at Caesars) for Corporal Rory Hamill, son of Tim Hamill, The Continental’s Atlantic City executive chef. Rory, a five year U.S. Marine was recently critically wounded on his third tour in Afghanistan. There is a huge financial burden on the family so they are reaching out to the community for support. $25 gets you a buffet dinner, house wine, domestic beer and admission to Caesars’ Dusk nightclub later that night. RSVP to Cara Rice at 344-3615 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Are you a fan of the TV show Iron Chef? Well, now you can experience it first hand at the Viking Cooking School at Harrah’s Resort, which is holding a weekly Food Fight competition between the property’s chefs. (See a photo gallery of Round One here.) The championship round between two previous winning teams will be held on March 29 from 6-9pm. Come out and cheer for your favorite Harrah’s Resort chefs and taste their impromptu creations. Reserve your tickets by calling 1-800-242-7724.
Keep your taste buds wanting more because the Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala will be at Bally’s on Thursday, March 31, at 6:30pm. With the ’20s theme appropriately named Putting on the Glitz: Eat, Drink and Be Dazzled!, it will surely be an adventurous evening. This premier formal fundraising event has raised more than $2 million for scholarships at ACCC and its Academy of Culinary Arts. You will get to sample delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by the students as well as delectable foods from 40 of the area’s best restaurants.
