Mildred Vermont said that being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs, since the payment is pure love. So true! Being that Mother’s Day is this weekend (May 8), I felt it was only appropriate to make sure we take time to realize the unconditional love we receive from our parents, and in honor of this day, our moms in particular.
Through our ups and downs, good times and bad times, they stand behind us no matter what. And just to put it in perspective I saw this quote on Facebook and had to share it here: “At three years old, ‘Mommy, I love you.’ At 10 years old, ‘Mom, whatever.’ At 16 years old, ‘My mom is so annoying.’ At 18 years old, ‘I’m leaving this house.’ At 25 years old, ‘Mom, you were right.’ At 30 years old, ‘I want to go to Mom’s house.’ At 50 years old, ‘I don’t want to lose my mom.’ At 70 years young, ‘I would give up everything to have my mom here with me.’”
You only have one mom. Make sure to thank her for everything she has done for you and find the time to reach out and give her a hug more often.
Life is too short to lose sight of what’s important. You can’t choose your family, so even if your mom isn’t perfect, embrace her and appreciate her for giving you life.
To all of the mothers out there, have a very happy, healthy, and loving Mother’s Day and to my mom, I love you.
