On Monday, Oct. 3, from 10am-3pm, Art Is Salon of Brigantine will be hosting “Hope Cuts” — the largest salon industry fundraiser in the country. The event will benefit City of Hope, an innovative biomedical research, treatment and educational institution that is dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The Art Is stylists and makeup artists are volunteering their time and talents by doing haircuts and makeup at a set price (haircuts for $35, makeup for $25) for the day, and donating 100 percent of the proceeds to City of Hope. Plus Art Is will donate $1 from every retail purchase and host an auction of gift cards, donations, and other items from local businesses. There will be hourly giveaways of salon products and services, free gifts and much more! There is always an overwhelming response to this event so please e-mail your reservations to Info@artissalon.com or call (609) 266-9212.
* * * The Atlantic City Weekly Health, Wellness & Fitness Expo will be Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10am-6pm at the Hamilton Mall. Receive important medical information as well as fitness demonstrations and fashion shows featuring the latest styles of fitness clothing. There will be interactive exhibits, health screenings, wellness testing and entertainment.
* * * Miyako Japanese Sushi & Steakhouse in Margate has the best sushi around — trust me, I’ve eaten at pretty much every sushi place from low-end to high-end. Miyako gives great size portions, the fish is fresh, and they have a large variety of rolls to choose from. Our favorites are the India Roll, Meyer Roll, and something new to my list thanks to my friend Ellen Lit, the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll with Avocado. Plus — and this is a HUGE plus — they have half-priced sushi specials on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. For more information go to miyakomargate.com.
