The Palm goes Hollywood this week as in its theme for the sold-out "Movers. Shakers. Difference Makers" luncheon to benefit Gilda's Club of South Jersey. All guests will be walking down the red carpet, photographed by a group of paparazzi and asked spunky questions by host Joan Rivers (a.k.a. Gary DeMato, a performer at Resort's revue show Believe - Diva's In a Man's World). This is going to be a who's-who event from attendees to honorees.
The event takes place Friday, Sept. 16, at the Palm inside the Quarter at Tropicana. Tickets are $150; start time is 11:30am.
To be an award recipient is a huge honor and congrats go to Barbara Gomes, the wife of Resorts' CEO Dennis Gomes; Lynn Dooley a long-time event chair; and Phyllis Lacca, of Masterpiece Advertising.
A special treat will be a guest appearance from fourth generation Palm owner Bruce Bozzi Jr. He is making a special trip to Atlantic City from Los Angeles to attend the event. Plus let's not forget the man of the hour, Palm general manager Paul Sandler, who's helped to raise $400,000 to date. This is an annual event that should definitely be on your radar.
Speaking of putting things on your radar, have you checked out the new Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa in the Hamilton Commons Shopping Center in Mays Landing? I interviewed the proud owner, Mitchell Sands, and he can’t wait to tell you more about his spa.
He says his spa is special in that all of the services are very affordable.
Plus every month you get your choice of a massage or facial at a discounted rate if you join their Lifestyle program.
The most popular services there are the hot stone massage, the foot treatment, the cold stone face massage, and he’s especially proud of the Clarity RX product that allows you to do before-and-after pictures and see the difference this product makes.
The Clarity RX is an organically based product not tested on animals. I may try this, and if I’m feeling daring I’ll post the before and after photos. Most services there take about an hour, plus they do all kinds of party celebrations from Sweet 16s to bachelorette parties from two people on up.
If you check them out, you’ll find some great introductory offers for one-hour massages and services such as waxing and microderm. And coming in October they will have the “Pumpkin Facial.” For more visit handandstone.com.
Next on my radar, keep your calendars open Sept. 24 for an intimate, private charity concert event to benefit the Schultz-Hill Foundation called Gershwin on the Boardwalk. It features singer Julie Budd, and musical director Herb Bernstein. Budd started her career at the age of 12 and has been delighting the ears of many ever since. She appeared on more than 100 of Merv Griffin’s shows and now tours with her one woman show. With her incredible voice paired with the fundraising element of the night, this is sure to be a wonderful and memorable evening. Doors open at 7:30pm in the Grand Ballroom of Resorts Casino. For more information go to mbcanj.com.
Last but not least on this week’s radar, Thursday nights have a whole new meaning now at La Hacienda in Galloway. Starting this week and every Thursday at 10pm, enjoy “Beat the Clock Thursdays” with happy hour specials as low as 25-cent drafts and music by DJ Do Work and DJ Prefer. For more information check out blackcollarpromotions.com.
All in all, there are so many great events coming up in the next couple of weeks. Which ones are you attending? And remember, if you have an event or story idea you would like me to know about, please feel free to contact me at any time. Happy networking!
I’d also like to send my thoughts and prayers out to all those who were lost in the 9/11 attacks. Life is so precious — don’t let another day go by without appreciating the people you care most about.
