Go Jane News - Fashionistas Only http://gojanenews.com/main/?p=2999
My Fashionista’s, Spring 2012 is here and according to Celebrity Fashion Stylist Gina LaMorte, this season is full of decades of throwbacks and mixes of eclectic and bold styles.
I had the pleasure of doing a radio interview with Gina along with Go Jane News Founder Janet Garraty and boy did we learn a lot about what we can look forward to in the fashion world this season.
Known as “The Style Doctor,” LaMorte is confident that we will see everything from vibrant colors to nude skin tones to black and white. On the runway, trends ranged from glitter and glam to sporty and sleek, with style details from almost every decade.
I definitely love the whole glitter and glam trend but there are so many other fun fashions that we can look forward to as well. They include the Art Deco look with sequins, fringe and skinny belts; Bare Midriffs like bandeau tops with skinny pencil skirts, slim cigarette pants and ball gowns; Exaggerated Details like peplum skirts with oversized bows, ruffles and layers; Sporty Spice with hoodies, track pants, zippers, jersey fabrics, nylon and parachute materials; Mermaid Chic (Gina’s Favorite) you’ll see underwater oceanic details like coral reef type patterns, textures that mimicked luminescent fish scales and waves painted on fabric where the fabric actually moved in layers of crashing waves; Shades of Sorbet are very yummy this Spring, such as mint, lavender, lemon ice, and peach.
When it comes to accessories, we can look for skinny silky slouchy socks with pointy stilettos, clutch bags, metallic belts, colorful opaque sunglasses, minimal jewelry, lots of pulled and slicked back hair and pale faces with pink matte lips.
LaMorte is a celebrity fashion and style expert for some of the nation’s most popular magazines and fashion clients. She appeared on many national television shows and was recently recognized for her role as editor & publisher for fashion’s #1 award-winning eco-friendly print magazine, Boho. With over 15 years of experience in all aspects of the fashion and style industry, LaMorte is one of the country’s most sought after style guru’s.
I love that this season gives us so many trends because it allows us to show our own unique styles while at the same time fit into the fashion world. The Peplum skirts and the skinny socks with stiletto’s are a little out of my comfort zone, but that’s why you should use fashion as an inspiration but stick with what makes you feel the most fabulous.
