Former Real World star and current WWE Superstar The Miz greeted fans at The Pool After Dark following his performance at the Road to WrestleMania SuperShow at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City Saturday night.
NJ.com sat down with The Miz to chat about his upcoming WrestleMania match, why he loves Atlantic City, and why he'll never do another reality show again.
NJ.com: How did your match go this evening?
The Miz: It went absolutely incredible! I put Wade Barrett in a figure four leg lock, just like I'm going to do on April 7th at the Met Life Stadium in front of a sold out crowd for WrestleMania.
Where is your favorite place to hang while in Atlantic City?
The Miz: I love Atlantic City. Caesars has been showing me an absolutely incredible time. Right after the show, I went over to the Toga Bar, enjoyed myself, lounged out a bit, chilled out and relaxed. And now I'm looking at going to The Pool After Dark here at Harrah's. It looks absolutely incredible and I can hear the party roaring from out here, so it's going to be absolutely fantastic.
The Miz is just one of your nicknames, what are some of your favorites and what do your friends call you?
The Miz: Oh, I have The Miz, The Grand Mizard of Lust, Demon of Desire, The Awesome One, The Chick Magnet, Personification of Perfections, Monk of Mojo, and my friends just call me Miz.
We often see wrestlers as men who are always Mr. Tough Guy, do you have a soft side?
The Miz: Of course! I'm a softie, I mean, I'm a romantic, what can I say, I like long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners.
Speaking of romance, you are now engaged to Maryse. Do you want want to start a family soon?
The Miz: Of course. I think anyone would like a nice little Miz running around. Actually, I don't think anyone wants a Miz running around [he laughs] -- another one ,at least. But yea, I definitely would like a family, of course.
You dropped out of college to join MTV's The Real World. Looking back, was that a good choice?
The Miz: It was the best decision. Well, I always tell kids education first, however, I had a dream to be a WWE Superstar and I decided to pursue that dream. Do dreams normally come true? No, because that's why they are called dreams. But mine luckily did; I sacrificed hard enough for it. I sacrificed school, money, and jobs so I could become a WWE Superstar and it paid off. Does it pay off for everyone? Not really, but hopefully it will pay off for all of you if you follow your dreams.
Since your debut on The Real World, you appeared on multiple reality shows, would you do that again?
The Miz: No! I don't ever want to do a reality show ever again. I loved all the experiences I had on reality shows in my 20's. The Real World was amazing; their Challenges were amazing; Fear Factor was amazing. However, I don't want to do them because I enjoy WWE too much.
If you weren't this amazing wrestler, what would you do?
The Miz: If I wasn't on The Real World, and wasn't on the WWE, then I would've finished college and went back to Cleveland, OH where I'm from, and would own a Mr. Hero just like my dad.
When was the turning point in your career?
The Miz: When I got on The Real World. It made me realize that I could do anything I want in my life, so I set out to become a WWE Superstar. And now I get to do movies. The Marine 3: Homefront just came out on DVD and I am doing The Christmas Bounty, which is on ABC Family and I think everyone will really enjoy it.
As a big tough guy, were you ever a bully in school?
The Miz: No, I was one of the guys that told the bullies that it wasn't cool and console the person feeling bullied and made them feel better about themselves. I think all kids should do that. I am definitely in the anti-bullying campaign, 'Don't Be A Bully, Be A Star', and I go to elementary schools all over the world to speak with students and kids to try to motivate them to stop bullying.
This question is for the ladies, boxers or briefs?
The Miz: [big smile] Boxer-briefs, a little bit of both.
